Life Science Academy was established in 2005 by a few enthusiastic scientists, led by Dr. Onkar Nath Tripathi, working on bioelectricity and ion channels and their role in cardiac physiology and pathology. The objective of this Academy was to promote research and education on different aspects of ion channels and receptors, dissemination of knowledge in this field by giving lectures, organizing workshops and conferences and publishing research papers and books. A group of leading academicians, physicians, scientists and environmentalists including wildlife conservation experts took the initiative to register the Life Science Academy with a new name, viz. The Academy of Life Sciences in 2024, to justify the inclusion of a wider area of interest and greater commitment to the role of life sciences in nation-building and in the attainment of India’s self-sufficiency in various aspects/ disciplines of life sciences.


Our Mission

To achieve the optimum goals of LSOs to attain the high economic level of our nation and excellent health conditions of our people high standards of research and education in various specialties comprising life sciences is of utmost importance. An important mission of The Life Sciences Academy is to carry out and support research on difficult-to-treat and rare diseases including cancer, heart failure, schizophrenia, autism, interstitial lung disease (ILD) and connective tissue and autoimmune diseases like arthritis etc. At the same time, it is necessary to train the young generation in advanced areas of research in diverse disciplines of life sciences and to ensure skill development in them. These steps will enable the young generation of India to undertake advanced research and develop sophisticated technologies involved in different branches of LSO.

Activities of The Academy

Research and teaching: Research and education in frontier areas of different subjects falling in the purview of The Life Sciences Academy will be pursued and supported.

Meetings: At least one general meeting in a year will be held and a specific theme topic will be a part of it.

Lectures: Lectures on the specialized and frontier areas of various subjects included in Life Sciences will be given by scientists and specialist members of The Academy to younger students in teaching institutions to promote awareness and scientific temper in the younger generation.

Publications: The Academy will undertake the publication of journals, books and proceedings to disseminate knowledge in various different topics of life sciences specified in The Preamble on this website of The Academy.

Main objectives of The Academy

The Academy of Life Sciences, hereinafter called The Academy, is registered under the Societies Registration (Uttar Pradesh Amendment) Act 1976.


The registration number of The Academy is- LUC/00889/2024-2025


The Registered Office of The Academy shall be situated at, 103, Usman Enclave, Aliganj- sector “O”, Lucknow-226024
