• To carry out studies on Ion Channels, an important group of drug targets

• The Ion Channels involved in several critical heart and blood pressure diseases will be studied for developing new drugs.

• The facility at DDL will be used to screen new compounds developed by GIPER for their pharmacological properties and therapeutic potentials in cardiovascular diseases.

• Testing of New Chemical Entities (NCE) and known drugs for effects on Ion Channels.

• To study the Possible Therapeutic Potentials of the NCEs acting on Ion Channels.

• To Pursue Further the NCEs for therapeutic potentials in collaboration with other Institutions (e.g., CDRI, IITR, KGMU, SGPGI).

• To Carry Out Drug Toxicity testing of NCEs and known drugs using HERG Ion Channels as a target. This Test is Mandatory for introducing any drug in the Market.

• This facility will also be used for skill development and contribute to nation-building by holding seminars, workshops, and conferences at national and international levels.

To produce skilled manpower in the field of Ion Channel research in India to meet the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal.
